Making Sure a New A-T Rating Scale Is Used Correctly Worldwide

February 2015 - When clinical trials are performed by researchers at different sites to test the efficacy of potential medicines in A-T patients, it is critical for all the researchers to use the same scale, accurately and consistently, to measure each patient’s condition before and after the treatments.

Therefore, with a new grant from the A-T Children’s Project, the A-T Clinical Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital has begun developing an instructional video for using the A-T Neuro Examination Scale Toolkit that was recently developed by an international group of clinicians, including the A-T team at Johns Hopkins. The video will ensure that researchers running clinical trials are well trained in using the scale, satisfying the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as well as the European Medicines Agency.
