Fundraising is the gentle art of teaching the joy of giving.
- Hank Rosso
Since high school I have babysat for a wonderful family's two children, Brody and Madeline. These two creative, fun, loving, talented, intelligent kids and their incredible parents have made a huge impact in my life and now is an opportunity for me to share in a small way some of my gratitude towards them. Fundraising for AT research also is an opportunity to support a cause I feel very passionate and hopeful in!

We are fundraising for a cure for AT!

Madeline was diagnosed with ataxia- telangiectasia when she was a little girl. One day when her and I were talking about AT, she was telling me about the current research status. She explained to me that the researchers have discovered what it involves to give a rat AT, or in other words, which genes are involved in simulating AT in rats. So Madeline then offered a very simple answer to what the researchers need to do now to find a cure. Just reverse it! :)

So that is what I will be thinking of when I run the half marathon on October 21st. Together, we can offer prayers, donations and support towards a good cause, and help those researchers to just reverse it! And find better ways of treating AT :)

Imagine a disease that combines the worst symptoms of muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, immune deficiencies, and cancer. Children with A-T are usually confined to wheelchairs by age 10 and often do not survive their teens. Because A-T is a multi-system disease, scientists believe that A-T research will help more prevalent diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, AIDS, and cancer.
