On February 28, friends and families of A-T kids across the U.S. and Canada raised funds for A-T research by celebrating Rare Disease Day, as part of the Global Genes Project’s Jeans for Genes program, a national effort to increase awareness for the more than 7,000 rare diseases that affect children.
A-T Children’s Project volunteers got schools, offices, and community centers involved by getting donations for:
- The right to “dress down” and wear jeans
- Special Rare Disease Day t-shirts
- Denim-colored lapel pins
- Dinners, bake sales, and auctions
